Death Rider in the House of Vampires Review Cinemax

Intensity: 🩸 🩸 on 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

Directed by Glenn Danzig

Let’s move away the gap. It’s a bad movie. You knew it came into it. You were fully aware and your eyes were wide open. The question is why you decided to look at this? Total boredom? A fetishist Danzig? Aspire to see Eli Roth? Or simply an old horror dog that will love with love a pile of bloody garbage that arises?

It turns out that all these things can be simultaneously true.

Death Rider in the Maison des Vampires is the second film directed by Faith Punk horror, Glenn Danzig. Like his contemporary, Rob Zombie, Danzig’s heart is definitely in the right place. Whether it is the hyping plan 9 or Astro Zombies tavages, or its eponymous group, Danzig exploring the darkest parts of the Venn Heavy Metal / Horror diagram, Glenn has always been one of the coolest things.

Glenn has unfortunately also been part of a really trashy trash can. But that may be the point. I have never met Danzig, but I have a hint of shipwreck that these cultural influences derive less from Kurosawa, Kubrick and Fellini, but are rather a loving embrace of Al Adamson, Ed Wood and Hershell Gordon Lewis.

If you head to the video store and take one of Danzig’s films and expect to see seven Sumurai, then it’s on you. Conversely, if you are trying to see Monster A-Go-Go or Dracula against Frankenstein, then you are probably on the right track.

Death Rider in the vampire house (in a way) released in 2021, followed a disturbed vampire-cowboy, Devon Sawa (Heart Eyes, Chucky and Black Friday) heading towards the famous Damillo, Vampire Sanctuary. Death Rider, as we know, is there to avenge the fact that the group of vampires transformed his sister into a vampire.

Frightening DVD! Couron!
Ol ‘Glenn does the work.

The main vampire and the boss of Vampire Sanctuary, Count Holliday, is well played by the exceptional actor, Julian Sands (room with a view). Count Holliday has a total and complete control over the vampire sanctuary and immediately suspects that Death Rider is not good.

From there, the film becomes a rather rebounding affair from one character to another. You have the impression that instead of writing a real story, Danzig just wanted to attract a bunch of people he knew and assign them funny names in Vampire-Cowboy. Whether Carmilla Joe and her acolyte Mina Belle, Vampire Gunslingers Drac Cassidy (Eli Roth), Bad Bathory (Glenn Danzig), Kid Vlad (Victor Dimattia) and Duke Vonwayne (Darren Richardson), the point was to have fun and turn away from collective thinkers from distribution and equipment.

Again, are you a fan of Al Adamson? Do you enjoy people wearing combinations of rubber monsters? Do you run away when you hear the dulcet dialogue written by Ingmar Bergman? If so, this film is certainly for you.

That said, if you were looking for Lee twenty (singer of fear) and Danny Trejo to deliver more than one line or two, then this film will leave you incredibly disappointed. Danzig as Bad Bathroy and Eli Roth as Drac Cassidy actually transforms fairly decent performance, but their work is largely defeated by the amateur qualities of lighting, cinematography and the development of stories.

More importantly, the film is boring. Unlike the exit of the anterior anthology of Danzig, Verotika, Death Rider in the vampire house arrives slowly and never gains vapor. While Verotika was bizarre on smaller doses of anthology, Death Rider in the house of vampires is an effort that is never really resembling something interesting.

There is certainly a story here, in fact, has already been a little told in twilight until dawn. Danzig has a unique and cheesy vision, and with a handful of dollars, Danzig could easily have moved this Vampire-Cowboy festival out of the kingdom of Al Adamson and pointed it to the slightly more polished works of Robert Rodriguez.

Death Rider in the Maison des Vampires was “released” in 2021, but in 2025, he is really not available for streaming. If you have a video store in your region, you could take a copy, otherwise you will have to buy a copy signed at Danzig from your website, or watch a questionable copy on YouTube.
