Game Review - Killer Klowns from external space ★★★ ☆

Killer Klowns from space: the game according to all reports Is exactly what it should be-a unapologist-like love letter coated by sweets to fans of the cult film from 1988. And in this regard it is an absolute explosion. The asymmetrical multiplayer format, which exerts human survivors against artistically grotesque alien clown -holds a perfect expansion of the chaotic energy of the film. From the colorful weapons to the brightly designed environments (including a lovingly reproduced large top spaceship), the game is brimming character and charm.

Where Killer Klowns Really Shines is in his funny factor and repeatability. The games are short and hectic, with a variety of activable skills and Klown classes that keep things fresh in the repeated sessions. Regardless of whether you wrap people in cotton sweetness cocoons or avoid death in a dilapidated amusement park, the game offers a consistent, ridiculous fun, teamwork and experiments.

However, the greatest strength is also the greatest liability. The game is deep committed to the starting material – to an error. While long-standing fans of the film will indulge in the absurd references, B-movie aesthetics and the speaking humor, newcomers may scratch their heads. There is little manual reduction for those who are not familiar with the Klownz tradition, and without this nostalgic connection, the exaggerated craziness of the game can feel more alienating than strange.

Still for those who – or ready to accept their distorted universe -, – –Killer Klowns from space: the game is an eccentric, endlessly repeatable good time. It’s not for everyone, but it certainly doesn’t try to be. And in this case that could be the point.
