In Heart eyesDirector Josh Ruben (Werewolves inside) provides a malicious sharp genre mashup that asks: What happens when love goes terribly and bloody wrong? Same parts romantic comedy and slasher flick, Heart eyes Dance on the edge of the knife between sweet and scary – and it is an absolute explosion.
Plot overview
Olivia Holt plays Emma, a hopeless romantic woman who tries to recover from a brutal separation with her charming but possessive ex, played by Mason Gooding. Emma encouraged by her Sardonian best friend (a scene saucer Jenna Ortega) joins Emma of an exclusive dating app with the name Heart eyes. The app promises to meet soul mates – but it comes with a warning: “True love costs more than you think.”
Soon Emma Noah (good again – in a clever double role) will meet an apparently perfect game. But after her first date, Emma ends in a cruel double murder – with Noah, which disappears mysteriously – that every correct one is associated with fatal consequences in one fell swoop. The bodies are piling up and Emma has to find out whether their perfect game is pursuing them … or whether the app itself has a darker agenda.
A bloody love story

The cast seems
Olivia Holt anchors the film with a performance that is both vulnerable and violent. Emma is not a typical final girl – she is chaotic, impulsive and heartbreaking. Mason Gooding seems in his double roles and shows both his Rome Com charm and a worryingly rude side that the audience guessed.
But it is Jenna Ortega who steals the show again as Emma’s sarcastic and loyal best friend Lily. Your faster understanding and biting one -rankers give the darkest moments of the film lightness. Ortega and Holt’s chemistry brings a credible warmth to their friendship and increases the missions when the danger comes closer.
More visually noticeable and intensely atmospheric
Autumn Ekin’s cinematography (The invitation) Bathes the screen in neon colors – red, pink and purple – a fantastic atmosphere that feels both romantically and nightmar.
