Rating: Borderline (2025) – Horrorfix Cinemax

Border If a fine border goes between thriller and comedy and often wobbles, but rarely falls flat. The director Jimmy Warden gathers an ambitious, genre -related romp with a respectable ensemble that is anchored by an unexpectedly magnetic performance by Ray Nicholson. When the unusual and morally dark protagonist steals Nicholson almost every scene in which he is located, and beats a fine balance between charming and rude. It is the type of breakout gym that brings it to the radar for larger, more fleshier roles.
Jimmie Falls also makes a strong impression with a reserved, differentiated performance, which gives the otherwise crazy procedure unexpected emotional depth. It is a beautiful shop window for him and hopefully a sign of more important roles.
The greatest strength of the film – its extensive, versatile line -up – also becomes his Achilles heel. With so many characters that jocky after the screen time, the narrative occasionally loses the focus and some plot lines do not feel exactly. Unfortunately, this also means that Samara Weaving, who is a film like this and is clearly able, is strangely able to fail. Your character never entirely gets the payment or development that you deserve what a shame is when you can see your sharp comedic timing and the presence of screen.
Nevertheless at a snappy pace, some really clever phrases and outstanding performance – especially from Nicholson – – especially from Nicholson – – –Border is a mostly successful swing at something else. It is certainly uneven, but never boring.
